Refund Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Our Approach
We want you to know exactly what's refundable before you pay us anything. Because our service fee and government filing fees are separate, they're treated differently below.
Government & Agency Fees
Federal Govt, U.S. Copyright Office, state, and other government or agency fees are paid directly to that body on your behalf. Once submitted, these fees are generally non-refundable by the agency itself, regardless of the outcome of your application. This is standard across the industry and outside our control.
Our Service Fee
If you cancel before we've begun preparing your filing, we'll refund our service fee in full. Once we've started substantive work, such as completing your clearance search or drafting your application, the service fee becomes non-refundable, since that work has already been performed, regardless of whether the Federal Govt or another agency later approves or rejects the underlying application.
Subscription Services
Ongoing services billed monthly or annually, such as trademark monitoring or bookkeeping, can be canceled at any time. Canceling stops future billing; it does not refund charges already processed for periods already delivered.
No Outcome-Based Refunds
Because approval and registration decisions are made by government agencies, not by us, we don't offer refunds tied to whether your application is ultimately approved, registered, or successful in a dispute.
Requesting a Refund
To request a refund, email legal@brandguardlaw.com with your name and the service you purchased. We'll confirm what, if anything, is eligible based on the stage of work completed.
